How to Use Individuality to Make Good Group Decisions
We are not just what we eat or think— we are a combination
of many different things. We are our gender, race, ancestry, age, economic,
political and social standing and many other defining traits. We are the food
we eat, the shows we watch and even the things we do. We are in a lot of ways
similar, but also different.
Since we are in some ways different and the same, we use our
diversity and similarity to achieve our personal and professional goals. Aside
from that, they also influence our decisions as individuals and as groups.
As individuals, it’s a given that our differences from each
other make us unique. But on a macro
level, does our diversity make it possible for us to work together effectively?
Yes, but with hard work.
Regardless of our internal belief systems, our diversity can
make it difficult for us to work together. That is why it’s important for us to
constantly communicate and connect. And
by communicate, we don’t mean to talk just to express. Communication also involves
listening and understanding.
Social development coaching and even self development coaches have provided many different systems of how we can connect as human
beings. There are also many existing books and blogs that teach us many
different ways on how we can use our individuality to make effective decisions
whether as a group or as individuals.
By following effective systems of communication, we are able
to find a middle ground between our beliefs and those of other people’s. This
in turn will make unity and collaboration easier to achieve. Our diversity is
the reason why we, as humans, are capable of being divided or united.
As human beings, our individuality is our strength. We use
it to make individual decisions, but with the right mindset, system of
communication and an open mind, we can also use it to make effective decisions
as a collective.
